David, the author of this prayer, openly expresses to us that man’s life is completely in the hands of God. If we truly reflect on this, as He created us in His wonderful image and likeness, it’s not at all surprising that the Great Designer and Creator of all galaxies wholly knows and wholly loves us. We can only dream how God inspired David with these truths but we can clearly see in his devotion how amazed and grateful he is.
This wonder and thankfulness is professed in verse 14 which beautifully states, ‘I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful.’ This verse also talks about the mind-blowing nature of our physical bodies, its intricacy and uniqueness that speaks beyond measure about the character of its Designer. It reveals how every detail of the human body, down to the tiniest cell is ‘Fearfully and wonderfully made’ by Him.
