About Us

Style: Talleyrand (French)
Color: Chocolate Brown
Size: 3 inches
Art: Diamond Swirl – Lettering Art – 6-6Many people don’t realize that Ecclesiastes 8:15 was the original source of the quote for this photograph. The full verse states: “So I commended pleasure, for there is nothing good for a man under the sun except to eat and to drink and to be merry, and this will stand by him in his toils throughout the days of his life which God has given him under the sun.”The shortened and more popular version goes like this: “Eat, drink, and be merry”. Some have credited William Shakespeare for this phrase, but his version is rather different. In his play King Henry the Fourth, he wrote: “We shall do nothing but eat, and make good cheer.”

For many of us, there is no greater pleasure than good food, good wine and the company of friends. If you’re feeling a bit depressed or missing your family or friends, this combination is guaranteed to cheer you up. And, if you need or want a little visual reminder, what better way than to have this quote as a decorative accent in your dining room? The other neat thing is, if you have guests who are coming to your home for the first time, this is a surefire way to break the ice and make them feel comfortable in a jiffy.

We chose a clear, narrow vacant strip of space on top of the buffet table and mirror in this dining room for our project. We did the quote “Eat, drink, and be merry” in the Talleyrand (French Category) Decorative Lettering Style in Chocolate Brown at 3 inches height, and squeegeed it onto this space. On both ends of we placed the Diamond Swirl-Lettering Art-6-6 also in Chocolate Brown. Our choice of color was meant to tie in the quote with color scheme of the dining room as well as the adjoining balustrades leading to the second floor. We think the Victorian style font is a perfect complement to the intricate design of the room’s buffet table and other accent pieces.

Many of our customers say, “When in doubt as to how to decorate, think decorative lettering.” We definitely agree, not just because we’re in this business, but because we’ve found how easily decorative lettering and art can brighten up a room, at the fraction of the cost of hand stenciling. More and more professional designers are using decorative lettering in their client’s projects, and they too agree that this is a great way to decorate – it’s very reasonably priced, can be changed at a whim, and has infinite possibilities.

Take a stroll through our site and browse through our galleries; you just might find a project that would be perfect for your home. You’ll see too how our many customers did their decorative lettering projects. You’ll also find more ideas for your dining room in our Dining room page.
