There are times when a boy’s room, especially when your son is no longer a little kid, are just a little bit more difficult to decorate. You and/or your teenage son may want something that isn’t too juvenile, and which will keep until he grows up to be an adult. Another possible problem could be too little space for putting graphics in, either because the room is too small so you can’t put too much, or the wall itself is too small. Here’s a wonderful solution that you can do through decorative lettering.
This teenaged boy’s bedroom is quite small, and the room was built and painted in such a way that there is only less than one third of the room’s height left for a possible accent. The lower two thirds of the walls feature wooden panel boards, painted white, and a narrow white painted strip above it, running across the entire room. The upper third of the wall is finished with satin paint in grayish blue. A framed print of a sailboat hangs on the wall above the bed, near the door.
We took the quote “Let your dreams set sail” and executed it in the Dauphin (General category) Lettering Style in Eggshell at 3 inches height. Above the quote we placed the SteeringWheel-LetteringArt-5-9, also in Eggshell.
The decorative lettering adds a beautiful graphic touch to the bare wall, and the Eggshell color provides a crisp, elegant contrast to the grayish blue background.
When space constraints prevent you from putting in picture frames, you can always turn to decorative lettering to personalize and add a graphic embellishment to a room. Should this teenager tire of the quote and decide that he wants something different, it will be easy to take off the quote by peeling the individual letters off with your fingernail or a pair of tweezers. Our decorative lettering does not leave any glue residue on your wall.
