Art: Diamond Lettering Art 6-LWhen we’re decorating, we usually think of the walls, curtains, wallpaper and textile design, furniture, photographs/paintings, and lighting. One thing that many people forget is the fireplace, primarily because there’s very little space to work with. Sometimes, though, little touches on those small spaces can make a big difference. A small graphic embellishment can add more character to the room, and even provide a great conversation piece.Our featured photograph shows an eclectic style family room with a fireplace. The room is finished in a very pale pinkish beige that matches the sheer curtains and the sofa upholstery. The fireplace is finished in white, as are the window frames. The fireplace’s façade is of grayish brown marble, which is echoed in the color tones of the floor rug and the Turkish ottoman, which doubles as a coffee table or a foot stool.
To add a little more oomph into the room, we placed the quote “Forever Family” on the fireplace mantel, using the French Script (General category) Lettering Style in Black at 3 inches height. On both ends of the quote we placed the Diamond-Lettering Art-6-L, also in Black.
The look is simple and tasteful, and while the decorative lettering adds an accent it does not clash with or fight for attention with the overall look. This was a ten minute project, and the height of the mantel allowed us to affix the decorative lettering without any need for a step ladder or an assistant.
Come Christmas time when the whole family or clan gathers here for the festivities, you can change this quote for something more suited to the holidays. Try a quote, or a line from a Christmas song in red or green, or if you’re decorating in gold you can use a metallic gold or silver font. The quote will come off when you peel it with your fingernails or a pair of tweezers. In fact, you can change the decorative lettering as often as you fancy, because our letters don’t leave any glue residue when you take them off.
