We all know that one of the best ways to a man’s heart is through his stomach. If you’re single, cook him a meal that he’ll never forget and he’ll probably never let you out of his sight. If you’ve got a husband and/or kids, hubby will look for your home cooking and find coming home for meals much more fulfilling than dining out. Your kids will extol your praises to their friends, and will very likely bring home a friend or two to prove it.
For the French, love for food is synonymous with love for family. Meals are enjoyed together, and the children are as much a part of the dining experience as the adults are. Family time, over meals, is an important event everyday. One way the French show how much they care for their loved ones is through painstakingly and lovingly cooked meals. The task of cooking and washing up is shared among family members, and meal times are the perfect opportunity to bond, share stories and experiences, reminisce, and simply enjoy the lovingly prepared repast.
Here’s a creative way to explore and nurture that love through the stomach principle – with decorative lettering, in French of course. Our quote, “Le flambeau de l’amour s’allume a` la cuisine”, means “The torch of love is lit in the kitchen” in English. We positioned the quote as a single line of lettering above the archway in the kitchen leading to the living room. For the font, we chose the Decorative Lettering Style Chancery (General category) in Medieval Wine, at 3 inches height. At both ends we placed the LeafA-LetteringArt-12-0 and LeafB-LetteringArt-12-1, in the same color.
The effect is a simple and understated decorative accent that matches the kitchen’s seat upholstery and wallpaper border and, as the French like it, the total look is in very good taste. C’est très élégant, n’est-il pas?
You too can bring that touch of French elegance and nonchalant chic into your kitchen with a French quote done in decorative lettering. The traditional method of putting letters on the wall, stenciling or freehand painting, is beautiful but much too tedious. Imagine having to rub in each individual letter with a stenciling crayon or paint on your wall! Our decorative lettering has the same effect, and aside from being easy to adhere to your wall, it has the added advantage of being removeable.
